In 1986 there was a KA pull that went on for over an hour. I think it was against the Pikes. We won.

EXCELLENT pic. Thanks for posting. Like you PG, I didn't believe that KA beat AGR when I heard it. GET ROPE!

Beautiful pic. Although this event happened 1-2 years after I graduated, I would have given anything to have been there to witness this historic event. Unorganized? Hell yes! Until this point in time, AGR was synonomus with rope pull and the undisputed champions each year. The best you could imagine was to finish 2nd. I don't think they had EVER been defeated. What you are seeing here is the AGR team bunched up about to go into what I hope was freezing cold water. THIS is another pic for the ages. Thanks to whoever posted it.

"Brother Lewis is correct. There was no time limit - you pulled until one side had all the rope. I recall a pull against SAE (we won) that went over 30 minutes. Unlike the ""Jars"" in the picture KA teams of that era normally wrapped the rope around the waist of the anchorman so we either won or all got wet.

Back then there was not a time limit on the match. They pulled until the one side had all the rope. Someone older correct me if I'm wrong. That would make that the AGR's we are looking at then.
