Kappa Alpha Order // Delta Upsilon Chapter
SPRING 2008
Fellow Active and Alumni Brothers,
The job of our housing corp. is a tireless and never ending one. The maintenance of our property requires constant attention as most of you remember (If you don't, it's past time for you to come back and visit. You've been gone too long!). KAM, along with the active chapter, is constantly seeking out and implementing projects that improve on our current situation and move us toward the ultimate goal of building a new house. Currently, we are in the first stages of 3 such projects. Now that the Animal House (R.I.P.) is gone, there is much more parking lot to become a mud pit if not properly maintained. We are working with the active chapter to get gravel in the large area where the animal house used to be before the fall semester starts. We are also getting estimates from local contractors on putting a concrete patio in front of the social quarters. The latter is obviously not as easy as smoothing out some gravel, but we hope to have a nice patio for gathering by Homecoming this year. Our active brothers have also been busy this summer digging a new volleyball court. The original one was a casualty of the new building and it's presence has been sorely missed. Several brothers started construction just last week and should be finished by Summer Party on July 12th. These projects take time and money, so we ask that any alumni who would like to help out, or who has experience with similar projects to contact us. We want to take advantage of any resources we have and our largest resource is you, our alumni. Please visit one of the links below to discuss either one of the projects. Lost Alumni List:
At Delta Upsilon one of our primary concerns is keeping up good alumni relations and ensuring that we are doing our part to keep you informed. Unfortunately no matter how large of an effort we make, we still lose track with some of our alumni from time to time. We have posted a list of our alumni brothers who we do not have either a mailing address or an e-mail address in our database. If you have a method of contacting any of the brothers on the list, please send an e-mail to alumni@kao1865.org. We appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide us in locating these alumni. If you are on the list, please Register A Brother Account so that you can be taken off the list for good. Homecoming 2008:
Homecoming is fast approaching and if you have not already made reservations, you should do so soon before all the rooms are taken up. The dates for the weekend are October 3rd, and 4th. We are still in planning stages and will post the agenda for the weekend closer to the date of the event. Our agenda will depend on the amount of interest we have for this, so please RSVP if you plan on attending. We hope to see many of you that weekend as it will be a a great weekend to come back and catch up with old friends as well as make new ones. Reserve your room at the brand new Hampton Inn by calling 731-587-5800. Be sure to mention the group name "Kappa Alpha Order" to get your special group rate. Rooms need to be reserved by September 3rd. |
